‘Mr. Deer’ to compete at FluXus Animation fest

Iranian animation ‘Mr. Deer’ is slated to vie at the FluXus Animation Film Festival in the Netherlands.

Iranian animation ‘Mr. Deer’ is slated to vie at the FluXus Animation Film Festival in the Netherlands.

Directed by Mojtaba Mousavi, the animation will take part at the one-day event.

Produced by Elaheh Farnia, ‘Mr. Deer’ took two years of production with professional tech crew in collaboration.

The 9-minute animation is set in an unknown time, in a ruined subway station which is similar to those in modern European societies. People in this society have animal faces and have forgotten humane values.

‘Mr. Deer’ has gone on screen at a number of international film events, including the 2018 Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, the 26th Anima Mundi Film Festival in Brazil, the 2018 Anibar International Animation Festival in Kosovo, the 2018 Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival in France, the 48th Giffoni Film Festival in Italy, and the 2018 Melbourne International Film Festival in Australia.

It was awarded at the international competition section of the 36th Fajr International Film Festival in Iran and received Special Award of the 28th Zagreb Animation Festival (Animafest) in Croatia.

There will be multiple screenings for both children and adults, and the audience will vote for the best film at the one-day festival that will be organized by the FluXus art center in Zaandam.

Other animations are coming from different countries including Belgium, Singapore, Russia, China, Turkey and Brazil.
